No. 2 HWT Tommy Rowlands recorded his 100th victory in the second session of the Buckeye Duals, a 32-8 Ohio State victory over Chattanooga. Rowlands pinned Matt Seaburg at the 1:10 mark of the HWT match as he became the third Buckeye to tally 100 career wins in the last three seasons under Ohio State head coach Russ Hellickson and joins assistant coaches and former Buckeyes Ken Ramsey (121 wins) and Mitch Clark (119 wins) on the distinguished list. Rowlands completed the event with a perfect 4-0 mark, which also included a pin of Northern Illinois’ Seth Livingston to knot OSU’s first session match with the Huskies at 20-20. In the event finale, Rowlands tallied a 7-3 decision over No. 17 Russ Davie of Cleveland State to help the Buckeyes seal a 22-14 win over 24th-ranked Cleveland State.
Sophomore women’s basketball guard Caity Matter averaged 16 points an outing in the three games this week, including an 18-point effort against both Austin Peay and Northwestern and a 12-point effort vs. No. 17/18 Texas. She continues to be perfect from the line (22-22) including a pair of free throws in the final thirty seconds of the game against No. 17/18 Texas to clinch the victory for the Buckeyes. She also averaged 3.33 rebounds an outing last week and was 9-of-17 (.529) from behind the three-point arc over the three games.
