COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio State officials said today that the 14,000 tickets allotted for sale for the 2004 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First-and Second-Round games at Nationwide Arena in Columbus have been sold.
“All six games are sold out,” said Richelle Simonson, Ohio State’s associate director of athletics. “The remaining tickets are allocated to the participating institutions and the NCAA.”
The games are scheduled for March 19 and 21 in Nationwide Arena. Two teams from the first and second rounds will advance to regional sites the following week.
Simonson said ticket applications for the games were mailed in February to personal seat license holders in Nationwide Arena as well as to basketball season ticket holders at the University. The deadline for returning those applications was March 1.
“We developed a detailed marketing and sales plan to ensure capacity crowds at Nationwide Arena in 2004,” Simonson explained. “The interest from the initial ticket offering to Nationwide Arena seat license holders and Ohio State basketball season ticket holders was enormous. It quickly became apparent that Columbus and the surrounding community have great interest in this championship and that the demand for tickets would exceed the supply.”
The 2004 First- and Second-Round games in Nationwide Arena are hosted by The Ohio State University.
