23 Student-Athletes Receive Degrees from Ohio State – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio -Tomeka Brown, Kathryn Craig, Brandon Steen and Conny Kirsch are just four of the 23 former and current Ohio State student-athletes that received their diplomas March 21 in St. John Arena.
Former OSU women’s basketball standout Tomeka Brown was a 2002 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection and Ohio State’s 2002 Best Defensive Player. As a Buckeye, she competed in 114 games, including 76 starts, and averaged 7.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per outing. Despite missing five games during her senior campaign because of a sprained MCL in her left knee, she tallied 9.8 point per game and currently is ranked 12th on the all-time steals list for Ohio State.
Kathryn Craig, Ohio State track and field record holder in both the weight throw (69-3) and the hammer throw (196.5), captured Big Ten titles in each event in 2001 and 2002 en route to earning All-American status in both her junior and senior campaigns. Her accomplishments in 2002 were added to an impressive resume, which includes the Big Ten record in the weight throw and a fifth place finish at the United States Track and Field National Championships in 2001.
Baseball midfielder Brandon Steen finished his career with 70 appearances as a relief pitcher, which ranks him third on the all-time appearances list.
In 2002, Conny Kirsch became the first rower in Big Ten history to be a three-time member of the all-conference first team. As part of the Ohio State rowing team from 1999-2002, Kirsch also was a three-time All-American and a four-time all-central region honoree. Her career culminated in 2002 when she became the first Buckeye in program history to be named Big Ten Rowing Athlete of the Year. During her tenure on the team, Ohio State rowing made three-consecutive trips to the NCAA championships, including a fourth-place finish in 2001, which ranks as the best in program history.
