Two Buckeyes earned CCHA Player of the Week honors for their performances in the Lefty McFadden Invitational. Dave Steckel was named the league’s offensive player of the week for the first time in his career after posting three goals in the two games, including the gamewinner against Miami. Nate Guenin earned defensive player accolades for the first time after going +1 in each game of the tournament and posting a career-high tying two assists, including on one the gamewinner, against Miami.
Lyndsi Gay paced the cross country team for the third-consecutive meet this past Friday, at the Indiana State Invitational as she posted a second-place finish, clocking a time of 21:59.90. In three meets this season, Gay has posted three Top 10 performances, including a first-place finish at the Ohio State Invitational.
Freshman goalkeeper Staci Sinkway (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano) accounted for 163 minutes of shutout soccer this weekend in leading the Buckeyes to a 1-1 tie with Michigan Friday, while also recording her first career shutout in her first match as a starter in Ohio State’s 1-0 win over Michigan State Sunday. Sinkway collected four saves over the two matches as the Buckeyes matched their best 11-game start in program history at 8-1-2.
