COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s cross country team is ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA Mondo Men’s Cross Country poll, released Tuesday by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association. The Buckeyes’ No. 7 ranking is the highest mark in Ohio State men’s cross country history.
The Buckeyes began the season ranked No. 26 in the poll and have continued to climb since their first-place finish at the Ohio State Invitational at the beginning of the season.
“One of our main goals at the beginning of the season was to become a better team at the national level and I believe we are well on our way to doing that,” men’s head coach Robert Gary said.
The Buckeyes latest jump in the polls came after a tremendous performance at the 2003 Pre-National Championships where the men finished third. The event was held in Waterloo, Iowa course and will play host to the NCAA championships.
The men will return to action at the 2003 Big Ten Championships Nov. 2 in East Lansing, Mich.
