COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel said today that junior fullback Jesse Kline informed him earlier this morning that he has decided to quit the team because of medical considerations. Kline, who was listed as the No. 1 fullback heading into Saturday’s season opener against Texas Tech, has been bothered by a number of injuries throughout his career, including lower back and shoulder ailments.
“I know this was a very difficult decision for Jesse,” Tressel said. “We certainly wish him the very best and hope he will continue to spend time with our players and coaches. He is still part of the Ohio State family.”
Kline’s departure means redshirt freshman Brandon Schnittker will be the No. 1 fullback. Senior Jack Tucker moves into the No. 2 slot on the depth chart.
