%^$%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University and the University of Miami (Florida) have scheduled a home-and-home football series in 2010 and 2011. The Buckeyes and Hurricanes will play in Columbus on Sept. 4, 2010 and in Miami on Sept. 17, 2011.%^$
%^$The two-game series was announced today by Ohio State Director of Athletics Andy Geiger.%^$
%^$”I want to commend (Associate Athletics Director) Archie Griffin for working with the people at Miami to put these two games together,” said Geiger. “This will be a great series for our fans and it should attract a great deal of national attention given the rich traditions of our two schools.”%^$
%^$Ohio State and Miami have played twice previously. The Buckeyes won the first meeting, 10-0, in the 1977 season opener in Columbus. At the time, the legendary Woody Hayes was coaching the Buckeyes and Lou Saban was the head coach at Miami. The only other meeting between the two clubs came in the 1999 Kickoff Classic at the Meadowlands, where Butch Davis’ Hurricanes defeated John Cooper’s Buckeyes, 23-12, on a hot and steamy August afternoon.%^$
%^$Although the Buckeyes have played in 10 bowl games in the state of Florida, including the 1977 Orange Bowl (a 27-10 win over Colorado), they have never made a regular-season appearance in the Sunshine State.%^$
%^$The Hurricanes play their home games in the Orange Bowl (capacity 72,319), although their current contract for that facility expires in 2009.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes’ all-time record against teams from the Big East Conference currently stands at 32-9-1.%^$
