COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Tight end Darnell Sanders will forgo his final year of%^$eligibility to enter the NFL draft, the second Ohio State player to do so.%^$
%^$”I just felt like it was my time and I’m ready to make the jump,” Sanders%^$said Tuesday.%^$
%^$Cornerback Derek Ross declared for the draft in December. Strong safety Mike%^$Doss, a junior, is expected to decide this week on whether to leave. The NFL’s%^$deadline is Friday.%^$
%^$Sanders had two touchdown catches in Ohio State’s Outback Bowl loss to South%^$Carolina on Jan. 1.%^$
%^$”The two touchdowns was a nice way to go out,” he said. “But what I’ll%^$remember most is basically playing with all the friends I made here. I’ll miss%^$the team.”%^$
%^$Sanders was part of the 1997 recruiting class but did not enroll at Ohio%^$State until winter quarter 1998 because of an injury.%^$
%^$Sanders can run, catch and block. After being second on the team in catches%^$last year with 23, he was third this year with 18. Five came in the Outback%^$Bowl.
