Teams Set For Ohio State Spring Game – Ohio State Buckeyes

With Football Coach Jim Tressel temporarily assuming the role of league commissioner, members of Ohio State’s senior class drafted teams for this Saturday’s 1:30 p.m. Scarlet and Gray Game at Crew Stadium.
Seniors Joe Cooper, Mike Jacobs and Jonathan Wells represented the Scarlet squad, while Steve Bellisari and LeCharles Bentley were on hand for the Gray team. Tressel, who had previously divided the seniors, also divided his coaching staff, naming Mel Tucker as head coach of the Scarlet and assigning Joe Daniels to call the shots for the Gray. Both head coaches were in attendance at the draft.
The Gray squad won the coin toss and selected first, choosing offensive tackle Adrien Clarke as the No. 1 overall pick. The Scarlet team then opened the position of offensive guard and selected Shane Olivea. The two teams then alternated choices by position until all the players on the squad were selected.
Following the draft, Commissioner Tressel sent defensive end Darrion Scott to the Scarlet team in exchange for linebacker Marco Cooper and defensive lineman Josh McDanel.
“We wanted to be really strong up front. That’s why we took Adrien with the first pick,” said the Gray’s Bellisari. “We have a lot of balance.”
“We have speed and power,” countered Wells for the Scarlet. “We are the team to beat.”
A limited number of tickets are still available for the Spring Game through Ticketmaster. They are $5.00 each and parking is free.
