Friday Practice Update – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$%^$Jim Tressel is looking forward to Saturday’s scrimmage at the Woody Hayes Athletics Center.%^$
%^$”We are going to get after it pretty good,” he said at the conclusion of Friday’s workout, which took place inside the WHAC because of inclement weather. “This is an important scrimmage for a lot of our players. It is a chance for our more established players to show how much progress they have made in the past 10 practices, and it is an opportunity for our younger players to step up and show what they can do. I told our guys at the end of practice today ‘Be ready to hit when you step out on to the field,'”%^$
%^$Matt Wilhelm hopes to do just that. “The coaches have been putting a lot of emphasis on this scrimmage,” said the junior-to-be linebacker. “I know I can’t wait to get out there tomorrow and start hitting some people.”%^$
%^$Incumbent Steve Bellisari and rapidly improving Scott McMullen are expected to take most of the snaps at quarterback. “This is a chance for all of our quarterbacks to show how they can move the team and how they react in terms of decision making when the heat is on.”%^$
%^$The scrimmage will give the coaching staff a chance to take a closer look at Bam Childress and Mo Lee, a pair of Cleveland area products who have flip-flopped positions, Childress going from cornerback to flanker and Lee moving from split end to cornerback.%^$
%^$”They have only been there two days, but so far I like what I see out of both of them,” Tressel said. “It is simply a matter of them getting more comfortable and learning the plays. But I like the move.”%^$
%^$Center LeCharles Bentley is still nursing a sore knee and is not expected to play Saturday. He is, however, expected back for next week’s Spring Game in Crew Stadium. Other than Bentley, the Buckeyes appear healthy for Saturday’s clash.
