The Buckeyes worked on red zone passing and second-and-eight scrimmage situations during Thursday’s practice at the Woody Hayes Athletics Center.
Jamal Muhammad a 5-11, 235-pound redshirt freshman made his debut at fullback. Muhammad came to Ohio State as a fullback and played that position last fall and through the first six spring practice sessions.
“We need another big, strong player at that position, so we are taking a look at Jamal to see what he can do,” said Ohio State coach Jim Tressel. “Everyone said last year that he was the only guy that could take on (fullback) Jamar Martin, so why not put both guys over there and have two very good fullbacks. For his first day at a new position, I thought he did a good job.”
The Buckeyes watched film at 6:30 a.m. on Friday and have the weekend off following classes. They resume practice on Monday.
