The NCAA Tournament selection committee acknowledged the successful season of the men’s basketball program, granting them a No. 5 seed in the East region, matching them up with the Utah State Aggies (27-5) in the first round. Utah State earned an automatic bid into the field of 65 by beating the University of the Pacific in the finals of the Big West conference tournament, 50-38.
