Men’s Hockey Falls to Miami, 3-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s hockey team lost its fourth-consecutive game when it was defeated by Miami, 3-1, tonight in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action at Value City Arena.%^$
%^$With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 16-15-2 overall, 13-12-2 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Miami, which claimed the Ohio Cup with the victory, improves to 19-14-2 overall, 16-10-1 in conference play.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes remain tied for fifth place in the CCHA. Miami moved into a tie for third and clinched home-ice in the first round of the playoffs.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes outshot the RedHawks, 12-6, in the first stanza but the period ended with the teams tied at zero.%^$
%^$In the second period, Miami took a 2-0 lead on unassisted goals by Nick Jardine and Jason Deskins.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes finally got on the board when Miguel Lafleche tallied his sixth goal of the season 16:05 into the third period, assisted by Pete Broccoli. Jardine sealed the win for the RedHawks with an empty-net goal at the 19:34 mark.%^$
%^$OSU’s Mike Betz stopped 21-of-24 Miami shots, while David Burleigh made 33 saves on 34 Buckeye shots.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes were 0-for-2 on the power play and held Miami scoreless on its three opportunities. Miami was assessed two penalties for four minutes, while the Buckeyes had three infractions for a total of six minutes.%^$
%^$The squads end the regular season Friday with a 7:35 p.m. game at Goggin Arena in Oxford, Ohio.%^$
