Men’s Hockey Defeated by UNO, 6-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Omaha, Neb. – The Ohio State men’s hockey team was defeated by Nebraska-Omaha, 6-1, tonight in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 16-12-2 overall, 13-9-2 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. UNO moves to 18-13-3 overall, 13-10-3 in league action.
For the second-consecutive game, the Mavericks got on the board first. At the 17:17 mark of the first period with the Buckeyes on a power play, Ohio State turned the puck over in the neutral zone. David Brisson skated in for the shorthanded tally.
At the 5:35 mark of the second period, UNO took a two-goal lead with a Greg Zanon power-play tally. The Buckeyes cut the lead to one (2-1) with a power-play goal of their own at the 9:44 mark. Luke Pavlas tipped in a Miguel Lafleche pass for the tally. Scott May also added an assist on the goal. UNO closed the scoring in the second with another power-play goal at the 15:36 mark, as Andrew Wong scored for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks scored three unanswered goals in the third period, including two by Jeff Hoggan, for the final score of 6-1.
UNO outshot the Buckeyes, 33-22. Mike Betz made 27 saves in net for the Buckeyes, while Dan Ellis stopped 21-of-22 OSU shots for UNO.
