Recap| Box Score| Notes
Albany Head Coach Scott Beeten
“You have to give them a lot of credit. They turned the defense in the second half and made it difficult to get open. They beat us off the dribble, we started forcing plays and they took advantage.
“I thought we played well in the first half and very well defensively. It gets pretty hard when you are not making baskets and running back on defense all of the time.”
Ohio State Head Coach Jim O’Brien
“I am thrilled with winning this game. I have two emotions, one of disappointment with our approach to the first half and the second: I am thrilled with the way our guys responded in the second half. Our guys deserve a lot of credit for responding the way they did because we did not play well in the first half.
“Albany deserves a lot of credit because we could not guard those guys in the first half. There a lot of things we can learn about our team from this game.
“Their zone forced our big guys to step up and help us win the game. We can’t always rely on our perimeter guys to win the game for us. It was about pride and effort.”
Brian Brown
“We came out hard just like last game, but we allowed too much penetration in the first half. In the locker room, the talk was all about defense. We had to really turn it around in the second half. Coach (Jim) O’Brien told us that we better go out there and get something done. They shot the ball very well but we didn’t play defense as well as we are capable of.
“Zach (Williams) got a lot of easy buckets tonight. He was shooting the ball with confidence and he just played a great game tonight.” Brent Darby
“Any win is a good win, but we aren’t satisfied with the way we played in the first half. We did a good job on defense in the second half.”
Zach Williams
“We got a lot of opportunities tonight, but we didn’t finish. We stepped up our defense and gave a good effort in the second half.
“We are a different team this year on what we can do on offense and what we can do on defense.
“I was basically just catching the ball and finishing at the basket. I was feeling good early, so I could pick and choose my spots, and my shots were falling.”
