Kelli Halcisak Named WCHA Rookie Of The Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Western Collegiate Hockey Association-Women’s League today announced it has named Ohio State defenseman Kelli Halcisak (Fr, Grosse Isle, Mich./Shattuck-St. Mary’s) rookie of the week for the week ending Jan. 28.%^$
%^$It is the second time Halcisak has earned rookie of the week honors and the third time the Buckeyes have claimed a league honor this season.%^$
%^$Halcisak tallied four points Sunday in Ohio State’s only game of the weekend–the inaugural Ohio Cup–against in-state rival Findlay. She scored the game-winning goal to help the Buckeyes overcome the Oilers, 5-4, and tallied three assists.%^$
%^$Also an integral part of the OSU special teams, Halcisak helped the Buckeyes convert on three-of-six power-play opportunities in the game. She assisted on all three of Ohio State’s power-play goals. Halcisak played a pivotal role in the Buckeye penalty-kill unit, which held the Oilers to two goals in five chances.%^$
%^$Halcisak currently leads all Buckeye defenders in points with 21, from eight goals and 13 assists. She is sixth overall in the WCHA for defenseman scoring.%^$
%^$Ohio State (9-12-3 overall, 6-7-3 in league play) is back on home ice this weekend. The Buckeyes face off against conference foes, the MSU, Mankato Mavericks at 7:05 p.m. Feb. 2 and 4:05 p.m. Feb. 3 at the OSU Ice Arena.
