Mitchell Earns Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio–Ohio State senior cornerback David Mitchell (Westerville, Ohio/South) earned the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award Sunday following his two-touchdown performance Saturday against Fresno State (0-1).%^$
%^$Making just his second-career start, Mitchell (6-1, 190) scored twice for the Buckeyes on a 34-yard fumble return with one minute, 31 seconds remaining in the first quarter and again in the third quarter at the 10:54 mark on a 51-yard interception return.%^$
%^$His first score gave Ohio State a 13-0 lead and his second trip to the endzone put OSU up 27-0.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes set a school-record with four defensive touchdowns on the day in the 43-10 win over the Bulldogs. Ohio State (1-0) had just one defensive touchdown in 1999.%^$
%^$The last Ohio State defensive player to score twice in a single game was Gary Berry Nov. 1, 1997 against Michigan State. He scored on an interception return and a blocked punt.
