Women’s Soccer Shut Out By Visiting Illinois, 4-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State women’s soccer team lost to Illinois, 4-0, Sunday in a Big Ten Conference game at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes record fell to 5-9 overall and 1-6 in the Big Ten. The Illini improved to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the Big Ten.
UI scored its first goal in the 20th minute when junior Emily Brown headed the ball past OSU goalkeeper Amber Barnes (Sr., Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) off a cross from junior Lisa Baldwin.
Illini freshman Kelly Walker increased the UI lead to two in the 36th minute on a rebound from her first shot that Barnes deflected.
UI’s Brown scored her second goal of the match at 47:41 after she collected a shot off the crossbar and shot the ball just past Barnes’ hands. Barnes recorded six saves for OSU.
The Illini finished their scoring when sophomore Tara Schuling lined a shot to the top right corner of the goal at 55:34.
The Buckeyes will return to action at 4 p.m.EST Friday in Evansville, Ill. when they face the Northwestern Wildcats.
