No. 10 Women’s Hockey Falls To No. 7 New Hampshire, 4-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio State women’s hockey team lost Friday night for the first time at home this season, 4-0, to the New Hampshire Wildcats. Following the non-conference loss, the Buckeyes stand at 2-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the WCHA. UNH remains undefeated at 2-0-0 overall, 0-0-0 in the ECAC.
The Wildcats hit hard and fast, putting a point on the board 45 seconds into the game. Kira Misikowetz scored her first of the season from Carolyn Gordon and Janine Goulet. Jenn Wildman extended the Wildcats’ lead to 2-0 at 4:51. Assists went to Kristine Butt and Nicole Stefanilo. At 12:00, Kelli Halcisak (Fr., Grosse Isle, Mich./Shattuck-St. Mary’s) received a 10-minute misconduct for diving. Allison Edgar would cap off the Wildcats’ first period scoring drive at 16:08 with a power-play goal, sending UNH into the first intermission with a 3-0 lead.
At 13:25 in the second period, Annie Fahlenbock scored her second goal of the season and the Wildcats’ fourth of the game. Thornton collected her second assist on the night.
For the fourth-consecutive game, OSU outshot its opponent. OSU outshot UNH, 35-22. April Stojak (So., Kent, Ohio/Shattuck-St. Mary’s) stopped 18 of 22 Wildcat shots. UNH goalie Jen Huggon tallied 35 saves for the win.
OSU went 0-for-10 on the power play, while UNH converted 1-of-8 opportunities.
The Buckeyes return to action Saturday night for the series finale. OSU will face off against UNH at 7:05 p.m. at the OSU Ice Arena.
