OHIO STATE NOTES
Dan Stultz tied the Ohio State career record for field goals made at Ohio State with his 49th, a 37-yarder with 10:15 left to play in the first quarter.
Ohio State quarterback Steve Bellisari threw for a career-high 315 yards and a career-best 17 completions. He added a career-high three touchdown passes.
Wide receiver Reggie Germany had a career-best 123 yards in receiving.
IOWA NOTES
Iowa has won the coin toss in four of eight games, but has received the opening kickoff in all eight games. The four opponents who won the toss have all deferred to the second half.
Ohio State, with the aid of great field position following an Iowa fumble, became the sixth Iowa opponent to score on its first possession.
The 27-yard touchdown reception by redshirt freshman Erik Jensen in the second quarter was the first catch of his career. Sophomore RB Siaka Massaquoi also has his first career rushing attempts and first career reception.
Junior running back Ladell Betts moved up to third in career carries (527) and he ranks sixth in career rushing yards (2,204).
WR Kevin Kasper improved his career totals to 137 catches for 1,726 yards. Kasper is now fourth in career receptions and ninth in receiving yards.
Punter Jason Baker has another outstanding day, with two kicks of at least 60 yards. For the day he averaged 47.3 yards on six punts, with two punts downed inside the five-yardline. Baker’s career totals now include 245 punts for 10,192 yards. Baker is Iowa’s career leader in both categories. He ranks fifth all-time in the Big Ten in punting yardage and sixth in career punts. Iowa had several starters who did not see action, including LB Mike Doleza,, LB Derrick Davison, DB Shane Hall, OL Alonzo Cunningham, FB Jeremy Allen and OL Sam Aiello.
