18th-Ranked Women’s Volleyball Handles Temple 3-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 18th ranked Ohio State (6-1) women’s volleyball team recorded its third consecutive 3-0 sweep and fourth consecutive win in a 15-7, 15-7, 15-9 win over Temple (5-3). OSU’s Jen Flynn scored a match-high 13 kills while Dana Stearns and Rosie Snow added 10 each. Owl Karla Jones had a team-high 11 kills for Temple with Enkeleida Shkoza and Maria Vutskova collecting eight kills each. Jones also gathered in 12 digs.
Buckeye Sue Calligaris equalled her career high of six assist blocks in the match while hitting .857 on six kills in seven attempts and Snow had a co-match high 12 digs while her 10 kills extended her streak of consecutive matches with double-figure kills to 28. Setter Katie Virtue had 39 assists in the match, picking up three kills and three assist blocks.
Team statistics show the Buckeyes hitting .333 for the game to .105 for Temple. Ohio State had the advantage in blocks, nine to three, and in digs, 38-33. The Owls outserved OSU four to three.
Ohio State begins Big Ten action next weekend as they travel to Michigan on Friday, Sept. 24 and Michigan State on Saturday, Sept. 25. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
