Ohio State improves to 3-2 on the season with the 86-56 defeatof Bowling Green. The Falcons fall to 2-4. Every Buckeye scored inthe contest – the third time OSU has accomplished the feat thisseason (Sacred Heart, High Point). OSU’s 86 points tied an OSUrecord at Value City Arena. The Buckeyes also scored 86 vs. WestVirginia last year (12/20/98). The Buckeyes tallied a season-high51 points in the second half. Ohio State also set VCA team recordsin field goals made (34), assists (21) and blocked shots (four).The Buckeyes tied the overall arena record with the field goalsmade and broke the arena record for assists, previously held byKentucky (18, 11/19/98). OSU’s defense continued to shine, holdingBowling Green to 29 percent shooting. The Falcons had been heldbelow 40 percent shooting just once (Youngstown State – 37.8%) thisseason. In contrast, Ohio State shot 55.7 percent, just short ofits season high of 56.7 percent, set vs. Sacred Heart. Mixu Mouascored 15 points in the game, marking her fifth straightdouble-digit scoring performance. DiDi Reynolds set her career highin scoring, tallying nine points in the win. Her previous high wasfive, set vs. Sacred Heart last Saturday. D’wan Shackleford alsoposted a career high in points, registering five in the game. Shealso tied her career high of four rebounds and set a career highwith two steals. LaToya Turner continues to improve following herknee surgery last spring, setting career highs in points (14) andrebounds (7), and tying her career high and VCA-record of twoblocks. Courtney Bale also etched her name in OSU’s VCA record bookwith two blocked shots. Lauren Shenk drilled four three-pointersand scored 17 points, both season highs. She finished one treyshort of her career high, set last year vs. Illinois (1/8/99).Shenk’s team-high point performance marked the first time someoneother than Mixu Moua led the Buckeyes in scoring.
