The No. 13 Buckeyes (2-1) play five games in 11 days, starting with Saturday’s matchup against Florida A&M.
“After this week our schedule becomes crazy. … This will be good for us to prepare for the Big Ten season,” O’Brien said after Ohio State’s 87-55 rout of Duquesne on Wednesday.
Scoonie Penn had 16 points to lead the Buckeyes, with Michael Redd and George Reese each adding 15 points.
“It feels good to win a game this big. We have to build on it,” Penn said. “We played with confidence tonight on both ends. That has to happen every game.”
Ohio State has held each of its three opponents under 60 points, the first time the Buckeyes have held three consecutive teams under the 60 mark since 1992.
The road-weary Rattlers (1-3) are coming off a 96-44 rout by Florida. It’s Florida A&M’s fourth loss in five games, all on the road.
The Rattlers had 35 turnovers in the game, including 17 in the first half.
“We knew what they were going to do,” Florida A&M coach Mickey Clayton said of Florida’s pressure defense. “Now, being able to handle it is a horse of another color. Obviously, we didn’t handle it well.”
