COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Department of Athletics announced today that its newest Web site venture, an e-business site that allows fans to purchase tickets and merchandise online, is now fully operational. The site can be reached by visiting hangonsloopy.com on the World Wide Web.
“It’s important to us that Ohio State be on the cutting edge of e-commerce,” Associate Director of Athletics Jim Smith said. “Making our tickets and merchandise available to our fans out of their homes is a very good customer service decision. The site also gives us worldwide exposure. It’s great to know that fans on the other side of the planet can now buy authentic Ohio State merchandise.”
Once fans connect to the site, they will have the choice of entering either the online ticket office or the online gift shop.
Tickets will be available for men’s hockey, women’s basketball, baseball, men’s and women’s volleyball, women’s hockey, men’s and women’s gymnastics and wrestling on the site. Tickets can be purchased two ways – by using diagrams of different Ohio State venues and clicking on specific seat location preferences, or by selecting price preference. Digital pictures featuring the actual view from each section will also be available on the site. Ticket purchases can be made with Visa or MasterCard, and the actual tickets will be left at will call on the night of the event.
“Fans can avoid waiting in lines and phone delays by ordering tickets online,” Ohio State Assistant Director of Athletic Ticketing and Events Phil Esten said. “You can click on the exact location that you’d like to sit in, so there are no surprises when you arrive at the Arena.”
In the merchandise area of the site, premium Ohio State apparel by Nike, Champion, and others can be viewed and purchased with the click of a mouse. The site features golf apparel, hats, authentic jerseys, sweatshirts, toys, and other collectibles. Orders can be submitted with a Visa or MasterCard, and are delivered directly to the customer’s home. Nearly 90 items are currently available for sale on the site.
A scaled down version of hangonsloopy.com debuted during the spring of 1999. At the time, Ohio State was just the second school in the nation to offer online ticketing. Currently, OSU is one of only two schools in the Big Ten Conference that offers online ticketing and merchandise.
Hangonsloopy.com can also be reached by visiting ohiostatebuckeyes.com, the official site of the Ohio State Department of Athletics.
