Ohio State ended its two-game losing streak, as they defeated Michigan State, 1-0, Friday evening at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The first half was scoreless until the 39th minute when Lindsay Eckles (Fr., Hilliard, Ohio) fired a solid shot over MSU goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman.
“It was nice to come back and have a strong performance,” said head coach Lori Walker. “I was pleased by the mobility of the forwards up top. The defense did an outstanding job on the attack.” Amber Barnes (Jr., Fairfield, Ohio) collected her seventh shutout of the season with the win over the Spartans. She is currently tied for second place with former OSU goalkeeper Nicole Morris, for individual season shutouts (7), and needs three shutouts to break her 1998 season record of nine.
The Buckeyes are 9-4-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the Big Ten. OSU hosts Northwestern Sunday, Oct. 17 at noon, at the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex.
