Battle of Unbeatens Has Conference and National Implications – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$ COLUMBUS, Ohio – When Illinois arrives for this weekend’s women’s soccer match, conference and national prominence will be on the line. %^$
%^$ The Buckeyes (5-0-0) and Fighting Illini (4-0-0) are tied for first in the Big Ten and also tied for first in the nation for winning percentage (1.000). As a team, Illinois is ranked sixth nationally for team defense with a 0.24 goals against average and OSU is tied for seventh at 0.25. Both squads are tied for sixth on the NCAA ledger for shutouts per game with a 0.75 average. %^$
%^$ Goalkeepers Amber Barnes (OSU, So.. Fairfield, Ohio) and Amy Bessette (ILL) are tied for seventh in the nation and first in the Big Ten for goals against average at 0.25. %^$
%^$ Four Columbus Area athletes – Brynn Catino (Fr., Westerville), Melissa Fox (So., Westerville), Elisa Hamilton (Fr., Westerville) and Tori Moore (So., Worthington) – will see action for the Buckeyes this weekend as well as Sara Still (Fr., Hilliard) of Illinois. Fox and Hamilton have started every game this season for the Buckeyes and Catino and Moore are key reserves. Catino is tied for the team lead for scoring with five points. %^$
%^$ The Buckeyes and Fighting Illini square off Friday at 5 p.m. at the OSU Sports Field which is located South of Ohio Stadium near the Larkins Hall tennis courts. %^$
