Women’s Soccer Recruits Receive Notice from Soccer Buzz – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 1998 OSU women’s soccer recruiting class was ranked seventh in the Great Lakes Region by Soccer Buzz in the first ever Division I women’s soccer ranking of recruiting classes. Seven Ohio prep standouts join 13 veteran letterwinners to comprise second year head coach Lori Walker’s 1998 squad that boasts nine returning starters.
The Buckeyes were preceded by Big Ten opponents Minnesota (2nd), Northwestern (3rd) and Illinois (6th) in the regional ranking and the Golden Gophers and Wildcats were ranked 14th and 20th, respectively on the national ledger. Penn State was ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region and finished just outside the top 25 nationally.
Notre Dame is the No. 1 team in the Great Lakes Region and the Buckeyes open the season with an exhibition match at Notre Dame, Ind., Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.
