COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior cornerback Antoine Winfield is one of five finalists for the Football News’ Defensive Player of the Year Award. Winfield, considered the best player in the nation’s best secondary, has 72 tackles including a team-high 58 solos, five tackles-for-loss and 13 pass break-ups. He is one of only two defensive backs named as a Football News finalist. The four other finalists are LB Chris Claiborne of USC, LB Jevon Kearse of Florida, CB Chris McAlister of Arizona and LB Dat Nguyen of Texas A&M. The winner will be announced Monday, Nov. 30.
