* Ohio State’s 5-0 start is their best since the 1995-96 season when the Bucks won seven of their first eight contests. Ohio State’s last 6-0 start was during the 1992-93 Big Ten championship season when the Bucks finished 26-6.
* Ohio State went on a 23-7 run over the final 10:50 of the first half to open up a four-point lead into a 40-20 halftime bulge.
* Ohio State’s defense again was stellar, holding the Cadets to 28.3 percent shooting (15-of-53), including a paltry 27 percent in the second half. The Buckeyes also forced Army into 27 turnovers. Buckeye opponents are averaging 23 turnovers per game this season. Ohio State also held the Cadet offense to 1-of-17 shooting from behind the three-point arc.

* Jon Sanderson set a career high with three steals, breaking his previous high of two set twice last year.
* Shamar Herron set a new career high after grabbing seven rebounds in the OSU win. His previous high was six, set against Toledo on Dec. 3, 1997.

Army head coach Pat Harris:
“Ohio State’s a big, strong and tough team. They do a lot of good things on both sides of the ball.”
“We got a lot of good looks, but we didn’t hit our shots. Their defense didn’t have to play to their full ability at all.”
“When you play a team like Vanderbilt or Ohio State, you have to make your shots because they’re so big that you won’t get a second chance.”
“Scoonie Penn is a good player. He drives a lot of gaps for them. Scoonie will be a key for the success of Ohio State’s season.”
Ohio State head coach Jim O’Brien
“Just simply put, we are very happy to get off to a 5-0 start. Today was a very good thing. We gave a lot of guys minutes and gave the starters some rest. We’ve played a lot of games. It’s been a difficult stretch and it showed early in the game.”
“Boban Savovic has been a little stale and hasn’t gotten a lot of minutes. It was good to give him some playing time.”
“It was also good to give Shamar Herron some time.”
“We play nine guys a lot and it’s difficult to give everyone some minutes.”
“I think part of the reason they’re having fun is because we haven’t lost yet. It will be a true test when we lose.”
“Jason Singleton has a very good attitude – very team oriented. The team enjoys each other and they’re a good group of guys and the chemistry is very good.”
