BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – David Boston returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown and padded his school record for TD receptions with two as top-ranked Ohio State defeated Indiana 38-7 Saturday.
Boston’s punt return put the Buckeyes (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) ahead to stay with 8:33 left in the opening quarter. His 29th TD catch on a 3-yard pass from Joe Germaine gave the Buckeyes a 28-7 lead following a 69-yard, eight-play drive to start the second half. He caught No. 30 on a 2-yard toss from Germaine midway in the fourth quarter, giving the Buckeyes a 38-7 lead.
Germaine, who was 32-of-45, threw for three TDs and 351 yards, his school-record fourth straight 300-yard game, fifth of the season and sixth of his career. His career yardage total increased to 5,254, 2,293 shy of Art Schlicter’s school record.
Indiana (3-5, 1-4) has lost eight straight to Ohio State since 1988.
The Hoosiers fell behind 21-0 as redshirt freshman Antwaan Randle El found himself under constant pressure from the aggressive Ohio State defense. He was sacked three times in the first half for 19 yards and lost a fumble at the Ohio State 32.
Dee Miller, who finished with a career-high 11 catches for 159 yards, had a 33-yard reception to set up Marcus Wiley’s 2-yard run that gave Ohio State a 14-0 lead. The Buckeyes pushed it to 21-0, moving 75 yards in 11 plays for Germaine’s 6-yard pass to John Lumpkin.
Indiana cut it to 21-7 by moving 76 yards in seven plays, scoring on a 37-yard pass from Randle El to Levron Williams with 8 seconds left in the half.
