COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State Head Coach John Cooper Quotes Ohio State vs. Minnesota, Oct. 17, 1998
“We had a lot of yardage, but we really didn’t get the point production that you should have when you get that kind of yardage.”
“It was a good solid victory, I don’t think we had any serious injuries and it’s always good to come out of a ball-game without getting injured.”
“The best thing about Joe Germaine’s performance is that he can throw better than he did today.”
About the four wide receiver set “We were trying to spread them out a little bit and when you do that you create some vertical holes. When you’re going to run verticals and get the ball up the field, you may as well have your best receivers on the field.”
“I told you last week that Minnesota was a scrappy team. They were well coached and their freshman quarterback was really poised and played very well against us.
“It is inexcusable for the No. 1 team in the country to get a punt blocked. It’s embarrassing and we need to work on it a little harder than we have and hopefully it won’t happen again.”
“We haven’t been pleased with the production that we have had out of the return team and that’s an area we’re going to continue to work in. We put Gary Berry back there because he can catch those balls but there were still a couple that we could have done better.”
“Na’il Diggs is playing really good football for us. He’s flying around and making plays for us.”
“Joe Montgomery had a good ball game for us. He’s an inspiration to me and an inspiration to this football team. Both of our running backs did a good job of running and breaking tackles.”
About Dan Stultz’ inconsistency “I’m worried a lot about it. When you put the ball in that area of the field you’ve got to make it.”
“We will not be overconfident. We will have a good week of practice and we will get after Northwestern next week. You can quote me on that. Write it down.”

Minnesota Head Coach Glen Mason Quotes Ohio State vs. Minnesota, Oct. 17, 1998
“Ohio State has a very good team. We are trying to get to that level and I think they are the No. 1 team in the country. This is college football at its finest. A good setting.”
“I was disappointed with my defense. I thought we played tentatively. Our offense played very well.”
“We need to run the football better and we can’t do it. We are just too young at the line to do well against the No. 1 team in the country.”
“I thought Germaine was a really good quarterback. Standing on the sidelines you can see him dictate the field. He is everything in you would want in a quarterback.”
“Andy Persby made some great plays. He put it up the middle up against an awfully good secondary.”
“I don’t think we were intimidated by OSU. But you have to play more aggressive against a team you have little chance against.”
“We don’t have a wealth of talent and we are just trying to utilize what we have.”
On Boston and Miller “They have hands and move like little guys, but they just happen to be big guys.”
“It meant a lot to me today to see the former players at halftime. That meant more to me than a win over Ohio State.”
