THIS WEEKEND AROUND THE BIG TEN
Minnesota at Ohio State, 12:10 p.m. EDT; ESPN – This will be the 40th meeting between the two schools. The Buckeyes hold a 33-6 advangage with a 17-2 mark in Columbus. OSU has won 14 consecutive games in the series and 26 of the last 27 contests. Minnesota’s last win was in 1981, a 35-31 triumph in Minneapolis. The Gophers last won in Columbus during the 1949 season, a 27-0 win.
Wisconsin at Illinois, 11:10 a.m. CDT; ESPN2 – Wisconsin won last year’s meeting, 31-7, in Madison. The Badgers are attempting to equal their longest winning streak in series history-three-which occurred from 1899-1906, 1919-21 and, most recently, 1952-54. Illinois leads the all-time series 33-28-7, including a 18-12-1 edge in Champaign.
Iowa at Indiana, 11:10 a.m. CDT/EST; ESPN Plus – Iowa has won the previous three meetings, including the largest victory by either team in series history, 62-0, last season in Iowa City. Iowa holds a 35-22-4 series edge. The Hawkeyes have the upper hand in Bloomington, 16-14-1, coming out on top 31-10 in 1996.
Michigan at Northwestern, 6 p.m. CDT; ESPN – The Wolverines have the series edge (45-13-2 overall and 16-7 at Evanston). With a 23-6 win last season in Ann Arbor, Mich., snapped a two-game losing streak to the Wildcats. In the last meeting at Evanston, Northwestern won 19-13 in 1995.
Purdue at Penn State, 3:30 p.m. EDT; ABC – After a loss and a tie in the first two meetings, the Nittany Lions have won three games in a row vs. the Boilermakers since joining the Big Ten, including a 42-17 in West Lafayette, Ind. Penn State leads 1-0-1 at State College.

THIS WEEK’S PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Defense – Penn State’s senior LB Brandon Short matched a career best with 10 tackles including a career-best three sacks (-11 yards) in the Nittany Lions’ 27-17 win over Minnesota.
Offense – Michigan State junior QB Bill Burke picked up his second Big Ten weekly honor of the year after completing 24-of-37 passes for a career-high 324 yards in the Spartans’ dramatic 38-31 win over Indiana. He threw two TD passes and he scored on a two-point conversion run to tie the game.
Special Teams – Penn State’s Travis Forney, a junior kicker, booted four field goals to help the Nittany Lions to their win over Minnesota.
