COLUMBUS, Ohio – Natalie Spooner, a senior forward on the Ohio State women’s hockey team, has been named to the CCM All-America Team, the American Hockey Coaches Association announced. The Scarborough, Ontario, product earned second-team honors and is a first-time All-American.

The 2012 Patty Kazmaier finalist concluded the season with a team-best 50 points on 31 goals and 19 assists. Spooner’s 39 points in conference play finished 11th among league leaders and her 25 goals scored against WCHA opponents was second overall. All three of her hat tricks this season came against league foes, including two four-goal performances. 

She concluded her career at Ohio State on top of four program record lists. Along with her season goals record, she set the Ohio State career record in goals scored on Jan. 7, 2012 and finished her four years with 100. Spooner broke the program record in career goals vs. WCHA opponents on Oct. 14, 2011 and has 75 in her career. Her 163 career points ranks second all time in the program’s history and her 16 game-winning goals over four years is a program best.

Spooner was named to the All-WCHA First Team and earned WCHA Offensive Player of the week three times this season. She had a team-best 16 multiple-point games this year and finished with three hat tricks on the season, including two four-goal games. She totaled nine multiple-goal games and four multiple-assist games this year.

Spooner is the fourth Buckeye to earn All-America honors, joining Tessa Bonhomme (first team, 2008; second team, 2007), Jana Harrigan (second team, 2006) and Emma Laaksonen (second team, 2002).
