Mikesell Named to Big Ten’s Weekly Honor Roll

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference released its weekly women’s basketball awards on Monday. Senior guard Taylor Mikesell was named to the weekly honor roll following her performances against No. 12/11 Maryland and Rutgers.

Mikesell had another outstanding week as she led Ohio State to its first ranked win of the season against No. 12/11 Maryland and recorded a road win at Rutgers. Mikesell averaged 27.0 points per game while shooting 18-of-26 (.692) from the floor, 8-of-13 (.615) from three-point range and a perfect 10-of-10 from the line last week.

Against her former team, Mikesell scored a career-high 33 points on 11-of-13 field-goal shooting and was a perfect 5-of-5 from long range and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. She followed her second 30-point game of the season with her seventh 20-point game of the season, scoring 21 points at Rutgers on Sunday. Mikesell had three triples against the Scarlet Knights as she’s made at least three from long range in all but one game this season and scored in double figures in every game this season.

This season, Mikesell is averaging 19.6 points per game and has made 72 three-pointers. Prior to the Rutgers game, Mikesell led the country in three-point percentage and was second in both three-pointers per game and three-pointers made.
