Meyer Signs with Columbus Blue Jackets

Carson Meyer, who graduated from Ohio State in Spring 2020 after two years with the Ohio State men’s hockey team, has signed a one-year entry level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the 2021-22 season. Meyer was selected by the Blue Jackets in the sixth round, 179th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft. He started his pro career on an AHL contract with the Cleveland Monsters, the Blue Jackets’ affiliate.
Through his first 13 pro games with the Monsters, Meyer had 12 points, with five goals and seven assists and he started a seven-game point streak March 25 (3g, 4a). He scored twice in his pro debut Feb. 22 at Rockford.
As a Buckeye, Meyer was a member of the 2019 squad that won the Big Ten regular season title and earned an NCAA berth, as well as the 2020 team that was poised to return to the NCAA Tournament when the season was canceled.
He skated in 71 games in the Scarlet and Gray and had 26 goals and 27 assists for 53 points. His collegiate career spanned 137 games, with 89 points on 42 goals and 47 assists. He had a four-goal game against Wisconsin March 6, 2020 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament, the first four-goal game for a Buckeye since Feb. 29, 1992 and the program’s first four-goal game in the postseason. As a senior Meyer had a 17-14-31 line in 35 games, ranking second for the Buckeyes in points and first in goals.
He earned Academic All-Big Ten and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete honors in 2020 and received his bachelor’s degree in sport industry.
