Meet the Buckeye Newcomers


This fall, the Ohio State women’s tennis program welcomed three new members – Shelly Bereznyak, Sydni Ratliff and Dani Schoenly. Get to know the newest Buckeyes below.

The trio is slated to make their collegiate debut this weekend at the Debbie Southern Fall Invitational in Greenville, S.C.

Shelly Bereznyak
Bat Yam, Israel
Ort Melton High School
Major: International Business

  • Reached as high as No. 790 in singles and No. 650 in doubles in WTA rankings
  • Has advanced to a 25K and 15K doubles final and reached singles 15k semifinals twice
  • Won three ITF singles titles
  • 2019 Israeli National Champion
  • Played for Israeli Fed Cup team in 2020

  • 2019 National Indoor 18U champion, Easter Bowl 16U doubles champion, national Clay Court doubles finalist and National Spring Team champion
  • 2018 National Indoor 16U doubles Bronze Ball winner and Ohio Valley 18U district champion
  • 2015 and 2017 Midwest closed singles champion and 2015 doubles champion
  • 2018 Women’s 7,500 indoor doubles champion

  • Two-time Ohio state doubles champion
  • Won district title twice
  • Four-time state qualifier (two singles, two doubles)
  • Four-time Team MVP at Olentangy Liberty and school’s Female Athlete of the Year
  • Greater Columbus Tennis Association Female Athlete of the Year
  • Four-time All-Ohio selection
  • Two-time Midwest Sportsmanship Award winner
  • USTA 16U Level 1 National Clay Court Doubles finalist and silver ball winner
  • Midwest 16U Closed Doubles semifinalist
  • Part of Midwest Team that placed second at Team Zonals and played on intersection tournament championship team
