Meet the Buckeye Men’s Hockey Newcomers


Buckeye Hockey 2020-21 Roster

COLUMBUS, Ohio – This fall, the Ohio State men’s hockey team will welcome eight new members. The group, which features skaters from six states/provinces (Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ontario) and Norway, includes five forwards and three defensemen.

The newcomers will join 19 returnees from the 2019-20 Ohio State squad that was 20-11-5 and finished tied for second in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes, who ended the year ranked 10th, were No. 10 in the final PairWise rankings, poised for a fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament when the remainder of the season was canceled.

Medford, N.J. | Youngstown Phantoms (USHL)

  • Skated with Youngstown Phantoms in 2019-20, posting a 19-17-36 line in 49 games
  • Spent 2018-19 at Quinnipiac University, appearing in 15 games for the NCAA Tournament team
  • Played in the AJHL with the Brooks Bandits in 2017-18, notching 42 points (17g, 25a) in 52 games and adding three assists and four points in the playoffs
  • Spent 2016-17 with the Springfield Jr. Blues, with 38 points, on 15 goals and 23 assists, in 56 games; named to NAHL Midwest All-Rookie Team and was the Blues’ Rookie of the Year
  • Skated with the U.S. National U-17 Team and the USNTDP Junior Team in 2015-16, along with two games with the USHL Green Bay Gamblers
  • Played for Team Comcast AAA team and at St. Augustine Prep

  • Skated with USHL Dubuque in 2019-20 and notched 43 points, with 18 goals and 25 assists, in 48 games
  • Played for Boston University in 2018-19, with three assists in 29 games
  • Spent two seasons with Islanders Hockey Club in the USPHL NCDC (2016-17 and ’17-18), winning the Dineen Cup both years
  • Played in three games with USHL Muskegon in 2016-17
  • Came up through Palm Beach Hawks organization
  • Participated in Florida Panthers development camp in 2017

  • Skated four seasons in the NAHL, with last two in Shreveport
  • In 2019-20, posted 24 points, including 21 assists, in 49 regular season games for the Mudbugs; Notched nine points (3g, 6a) in 49 games for Shreveport in 2018-19 and also skated in 10 playoff games
  • 2020 NAHL Top Prospect selection
  • Played in 52 games for the Brookings Blizzard in 2017-18, posting a 2-13-15 line; also skated in a game for the Topeka RoadRunners that year
  • Began NAHL career with Topeka in 2016-17, with 12 points, including 10 assists, in 41 games played
  • Played AAA hockey with Compuware and Portland Jr. Pirates

  • Played for Fargo Force in the USHL in 2019-20, with 28 points (11g, 17a) in 48 games
  • Won the Iron Man award with the Force
  • Spent 2018-19 with Central Illinois Flying Aces and had 24 points, with 12 goals and 12 assists, in 61 regular season games
  • Played two seasons with New Hampton School, winning the coaches award
  • Came up with New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs program and won U16 championship

Marysville, Mich. | Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)

  • Played for the USHL Waterloo Black Hawks the last two seasons
  • 24 points in 44 games, with 12 goals and 12 assists, in 2019-20
  • Had a 6-10-16 line in 54 games in 2018-19
  • Named to 2020 BioSteel All-American Game but was unable to play because of injury
  • Ranked in NHL Central Scouting rankings
  • Came up through Little Caesars program

Oakville, Ontario | Penticton Vees (BCHL)

  • Played two seasons with Penticton in the BCHL
  • Skated in 58 games in 2019-20 regular season, with 29 points on six goals and 23 assists
  • Started 2018-19 with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the USHL, with a 2-5-7 line in 23 games; ended year with Penticton, posting seven points (3g, 4a) in 18 outings
  • Saw action in 11 BCHL playoff games over the last two years combined, with a goal and two assists
  • Played for St. Andrew’s College in 2016-17 and ’17-18
  • Skated with Mississauga Rebels and Toronto Red Wings organizations

Fredrikstad, Norway | Lincoln Stars (USHL)

  • Skated with Lincoln in 2019-20 and had 49 points, with 14 goals and 35 assists, in 48 games
  • Played 59 regular season games with the USHL Chicago Steel in 2018-19 and notched 30 points (14g, 16a) in 59 regular season games; also played in 10 postseason outings as the team won the eastern conference title
  • Saw action in four USHL games with Chicago in 2017-18
  • Played with North Jersey Avalanche AAA program, as well as Frölunda HC and HF71 in Sweden

Wake Forest, N.C. | Sioux City Musketeers (USHL)

  • Played with Sioux City for two seasons
  • Saw action in 18 games in 2018-19, with a 2-13-15 line and had 16 points, with three goals and 13 assists, in 19 games in 2019-20
  • Assistant captain for the Musketeers in 2019-20
  • Played at Boston University for part of 2018-19, skating in six games
  • Spent three years playing for Culver Military Academy; in last year with Culver, had 55 points (17g, 38a) in 43 games in 2017-18
  • Played with TPH Thunder and Cleveland Barons AAA programs
