COLUMBUS, Ohio – Caley McGinty has been selected as the Big Ten Golfer of the Week, announced by the conference on Wednesday. This is the third time McGinty has earned Big Ten weekly honors.
McGinty had a record-breaking performance at the Mountain View Collegiate in Arizona over the weekend and placed second overall at the tournament for her second top-two finish of the spring season.
In round one, McGinty carded a 68 (-4) and she shot a 67 (-5) in round two. In the third and final round of play, McGinty set an Ohio State women’s golf record, firing a 63 (-9) for the lowest 18-hole round in program history. It is the lowest round of McGinty’s collegiate career.
McGinty finished the tournament with an overall score of 198 (-18) and helped the Buckeyes to a second-place finish and a program-best 54-hole score of 837 (-27).
Ohio State is back in action April 3-5 at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif.
