COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s ice hockey team collected multiple WCHA preseason honors, the conference office announced Wednesday. Junior forward Emma Maltais was voted co-Player of the Year and both Maltais and senior defender Jincy Dunne made the All-WCHA team.

Maltais and Wisconsin senior Abby Roque each received two votes for player of the year while Dunne was the only defenseman to receive a vote in the category.

Dunne was the league’s only unanimous coaches’ pick for All-Team honors after being named last season’s WCHA Defenseman of the Year. Maltais picks up her first preseason All-Team honor after leading the Buckeyes last season with 43 points.

Ohio State was selected third in the WCHA Preseason Coaches’ Poll with 24 points while Wisconsin leads the conference with 36 total points, followed by Minnesota with 31 points. Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State round out the Top 5.

The Buckeyes open the season with a home series against Saint Lawrence Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 at the OSU Ice Rink. Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for 6:07 p.m.
