COLUMBUS, Ohio – The American Volleyball Coaches’ Association (AVCA) announced its 2022 All-Americans on Wednesday. Junior opposite Emily Londot and senior setter Mac Podraza were named to the All-American Second Team. Senior libero Kylie Murr received an honorable mention.
This is Londot’s third year being named an All-American after earning second-team honors in 2020 and an honorable mention last season. Londot was named AVCA Northeast Region Player of the Year earlier this month, along with earning her spot on the All-Region team. Following the conclusion of the regular season, Londot was named All-Big Ten First Team. Londot ranked fifth in the conference in both kills per set (3.92) and points per set (4.47) this season. She became the ninth player in program history and first since Oct. 2016 to be named GameChanger/AVCA Division I Player of the Week on Nov. 14. Londot was named to the preseason All-Big Ten Team and went on to earn three Big Ten Player of the Week nods (Sept. 5, Sept. 12, Nov. 14). She is one of 18 players in Ohio State history to total at least 1,000 kills and 600 digs. This season, Londot has 10+ kills in 29 matches, 20+ kills in three matches, 10+ digs in 15 matches and 20+ digs once. She recorded a team-high 15 double-doubles. Londot totaled a career-high 29 kills in the NCAA regional finals victory, hitting .500 on the match and adding 13 digs.
This is Podraza’s third-consecutive season being named an All-American, having received an honorable mention in 2020 and a spot on the third team last season. Podraza was named to the AVCA All-Region team earlier this month. Podraza became the first Buckeye to be named Big Ten Setter of the Year and also earned her spot on the All-Big Ten First Team following the conclusion of the regular season. Podraza consistently led the Big Ten in assists per set (11.10) this season. She was named to the preseason All-Big Ten Team and then was named Big Ten Setter of the Week five times during the season (Sept. 12, Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Oct. 31, Nov. 14). Podraza ranks fifth in program history with 4,001 career assists here at Ohio State after beginning the season in 10th and also ranks sixth in assists per set throughout her career. Podraza totaled 12 double-doubles this season (all assists and digs) and has averaged 10 assists per set in 22 matches.
This is Murr’s first time being recognized as an All-American. She also was named AVCA All-Region for the first time in her career this season. Following the conclusion of the regular season, Murr became the first player in program history to be named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, also being named All-Big Ten First Team. Murr led the Big Ten in digs per set (4.69) this season, which ranks second among single-season program records and only trails her average from 2019. She also led the conference in dig per set (5.26) during conference matches. Murr earned three Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors during the season (Oct. 3, Oct. 24, Nov. 14). Murr became the program’s all-time career digs leader on Nov. 18 and now totals 1,935 digs, also holding the career record for digs per set. Her 530 digs this season ranks fourth in program history. This season, Murr has totaled 10+ digs in 30 matches, 20+ digs in 10 matches and 30+ digs in two matches, including a career-high 35 digs on Nov. 18 to break the program record.
