COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior Lexi Edwards of the Ohio State women’s gymnastics team has qualified for the 2022 NCAA Championships on vault. She will compete as one of 16 event specialists at the national championship meet in Fort Worth, Texas at Dickies Arena on April 14 at 6 p.m. ET.
Edwards, who had won three vault titles on the year headed into the Buckeyes’ NCAA regional at Auburn, tied for first place on vault with a score of 9.950. With a 9.950 start value, she earned a perfect score on the apparatus.
Not only did her score win the meet, it marked the highest vault score by a Buckeye this season and a career-high mark for Edwards. The Richmond, Va. native earned the highest score on vault by an Ohio State gymnast since 2014, when Sarah Miller also scored a 9.950.
She is the first Buckeye since 2018 to qualify for the national championship meet. In 2018, Jamie Stone also qualified on vault, finishing 40th overall.
