COLUMBUS, Ohio – Helping lead Ohio State to two big victories last weekend, sophomore Cannon Kingsley has been named the men’s tennis Big Ten Athlete of the Week.
Kingsley claimed a pair of singles victories in straight sets and also picked up a doubles win. The Northport, N.Y., native started the weekend with a doubles win over Northwestern and then bested No. 58 Dominik Stary 6-1, 6-4. In the match against No. 6 Illinois, he faced No. 15 Alex Brown in the showcase match, and rolled to a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
On the season, Kingsley is a perfect 11-0 in singles matches with seven wins over ranked opponents. He is also 6-3 in doubles matches.
The Buckeyes are coming of two road wins over No. 25 Northwestern and No. 6 Illinois and are 5-1 on the season.
