Keaton Anderson Selected as Big Ten Wrestler of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – Ohio State senior wrestler Keaton Anderson was selected as the Big Ten’s first wrestler of the week for the 2002-03 season as he dominated the field on his way to claiming the 2002 Michigan State Open Championship at the 157-pound weight class.
Anderson, who is ranked among the Top 10 in all the major individual rankings, captured the title in an unchallenged fashion as he won the six round event by a combined score of 68-5. Anderson defeated No. 17 Mike Tolar of Kent State in the finals of the open by a 9-1 count. The 157-pounder also recorded consecutive technical falls in each of the first two rounds.
Anderson and his Buckeye teammates hit the mat again on Saturday as the squad travels to Brockport, N.Y. for the Oklahoma Gold Classic held at the University of Brockport. Other participating schools in the tournament are No. 3/ 4 Oklahoma, Bloomsburg, Buffalo, Cleveland State, Rutgers, the United States Military Academy, Pittsburgh-Johnstown, Rutgers and Wagner. The all-day affair is set to begin at 10 a.m. with the finals starting at 6 p.m.
