Grace Kim Joins Buckeyes for the 2022 Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Grace Kim, a four-year student-athlete as a member of the Duke Blue Devils, will wrap up her collegiate career in 2022 as a graduate transfer at Ohio State.

Kim, a four-time member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad and team captain in 2021, played in 64 games for Duke from 2018-21 and started 49 times. She was a mainstay in the lineup for her final three seasons, starting 49 consecutive games from 2019-21 while helping the Blue Devils to five shutouts during that time.

“I am really excited to have Grace join the Buckeye Family,” said head coach Jarred Martin. “I have known Grace for a long time and she comes from a family of excellent student-athletes. She has had a tremendous career at Duke where she was able to do well on the field and in the classroom.”

Kim’s sister, Amanda, was a member of the Duke field hockey program from 2012-15 while Martin was the team’s associate head coach.

“Being a captain her senior year she has shown personal habits as a leader that will help drive any team that she is on to succeed and to be their best,” said Martin. “To have that come in to our program will be tremendous and she helps solidify our strong defensive unit.”

A native of Richmond, Va., Kim attended St. Catherine’s School prior to Duke and was a three-time All-LIS and all-state selection.

“I know she is hard working. I know she wants to compete,” said Martin. “And I know she wants to give everything to this team. What else could a coach ask for of a player? I look forward to the season, to being her coach, and to see how she helps our team succeed in the fall.”
