COLUMBUS, Ohio – Emma Goldean, a senior captain, has earned second team All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced on Wednesday. Additionally, senior Katie Pyle was the Buckeyes’ Sportsmanship Award honoree.
Goldean played in and started all 18 games for the Buckeyes this season and led the team in scoring with 11 points (five goals, one assist). Her best statistical game came on Oct. 10 against Ohio when she scored twice in a five-minute span during the third quarter to help Ohio State to a 4-3 win. It is the first all-conference honor of Goldean’s career.
A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Goldean played in 72 career games and started 69 times. She finished with career totals of 13 goals, 12 assists and 38 points. Over her final two seasons – the spring of 2021 and fall of 2021 – Golden produced 25 points in 34 games. She was a member of last spring’s Big Ten All-Tournament Team. Academically, Golden is an OSU Scholar-Athlete majoring in biology.
Pyle scored two goals and added two assists this season for a total of six points. She had goals in back-to-back games against Michigan State and Virginia while adding two assists in a 4-3 double overtime win versus Lafayette. An early childhood education major, Pyle was an OSU Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Big Ten and NFHCA National Academic Squad member during her career.
