COLUMBUS, Ohio – Emma Goldean, a senior captain, and Leanne Bough, a junior, today were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-West Region team.
“Both Emma and Leanne have been mainstays in our system and have had fantastic fall seasons for us,” said head coach Jarred Martin. “They’re so deserving of this honor. I couldn’t be happier they are Buckeyes. The west region was competitive this year with so many great teams so it just shows you how impactful these two were as field hockey players. They work hard, compete hard and want what’s best for the team.”
Goldean played in and started all 18 games for the Buckeyes this season and led the team in scoring with 11 points (five goals, one assist). Her best statistical game came on Oct. 10 against Ohio when she scored twice in a five-minute span during the third quarter to help Ohio State to a 4-3 win. It is the first all-region honor of Goldean’s career.
A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Goldean played in 72 career games and started 69 times. She finished with career totals of 13 goals, 12 assists and 38 points. Over her final two seasons – the spring of 2021 and fall of 2021 – Golden produced 25 points in 34 games. She was a member of last spring’s Big Ten All-Tournament Team.
Like Goldean, Bough played in and started every game this season, finishing with 10 points and five goals. She had four game-winning goals to rank among the leaders in the Big Ten in that category. Her best statistical game came against Appalachian State when she scored twice and had a game-high five shots.
Bough, from is from Whitney Point, N.Y., has 18 career points in 49 games on eight goals and two assists. This is her first career all-region honor.
