Former Ohio State football player Neal Colzie died last night in Coral Gables, Fla. of an apparent heart attack. Neal was a three-year starter at defensive back for the Buckeyes between 1972 and ’74. He won first-team All-America honors as a senior in 1974 and was a two-time All-Big Ten choice. He is fifth on the Ohio State career interception list with 15, including eight as a senior. He set a school record in 1973 by returning two interceptions for touchdowns. An exceptional punt returner, he holds the Ohio State records punt return yardage in a game (170 vs. Michigan State in 1973) and in a season ( 679 on 40 attempts in 1973). He is third in career punt return yardage with 855 yards. His two punt returns for touchdowns in 1973 ties him for the school record in that department.
