COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball program and Head Coach Jen Flynn Oldenburg announced the addition of Shaun Ermi to the Buckeyes’ coaching staff on Friday. Ermi will serve as the volunteer assistant coach.
“I am thrilled that Shaun Ermi is joining our staff,” said Oldenburg. “Shaun’s experiences as a student, athlete and most recently as a coach will add much value to our program. It was apparent from my first call with him that he is passionate about this profession and has already taken major steps in his career to establish a path that will set him up for success.”
“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity from Coach Flynn Oldenburg. The culture that Jen, Nicole, Brian, Caitlin, and the student-athletes on the women’s volleyball team have created is special,” said Ermi. “To have the opportunity to contribute in any form to this program, the student-athletes, staff, and The Ohio State is something I am looking forward to. O-H!”
Ermi comes to Columbus after spending the 2021-22 year at Springfield College as a graduate assistant for the men’s volleyball program that finished as the national runner-up. While at Springfield, Ermi worked on a master’s degree in advanced level coaching.
Ermi earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Springfield College in the spring of 2017. He was a member of the men’s volleyball team that made four NCAA Division III national championship appearances and earned two national titles (2014, 2017). Following his graduation, Ermi played volleyball in the United Kingdom and earned a master’s degree from the University of Essex in 2018.
