Eight in Double Figures Power Ohio State Exhibition Win

COLUMBUS, Ohio. – The No. 15/14 Ohio State Buckeyes beat Notre Dame College by a 118-33 margin in an exhibition game on Monday evening at Value City Arena in the Schottenstein Center.
Ohio State was impressive in all stages of the game with eight players scoring in double figures on 55.4 percent (46-of-83) shooting as a team. The Buckeyes had assists on 31 of those baskets and earned 14 steals and seven blocks.
How it Happened
Cotie McMahon opened scoring in the game with the first three points. The Buckeyes used a 6-0 run to take a 9-3 lead with 6:29 to play in the opening quarter. Rebeka Mikulášiková completed a three-point play amidst a 9-0 run that extended the lead to 18-6 with 2:49 remaining in the first quarter. Ohio State concluded a 31-9 first quarter with a 13-0 run that featured a trio of three-pointers.
Madison Greene began the second quarter with the first four points on the floor as Taylor Thierry added to the 7-0 run that saw OSU ahead 38-9 with 8:42 to play in the half. The Buckeyes used their largest run of the half, 15-0, to lead 56-14 with 3:12 remaining before halftime. Ohio State went into the locker room with a 62-19 lead after a steal and fastbreak layup before the buzzer.
OSU scored the first six points of the second half to lead 68-19 with 8:23 remaining in the quarter. Ten-consecutive Buckeye points, including six on the fast break, pushed OSU’s lead to 78-21 with five and a half minutes to play in the quarter. After 30 minutes, Ohio State had a 98-27 lead after Greene beat the buzzer with a mid-range jumper.
The Buckeyes scored the first 14 points in the final quarter, holding Notre Dame College scoreless for nearly four minutes, to lead 112-27. Ohio State scored six more points down the stretch and NDC capped scoring at 118-33 after 40 minutes of play.

- Jacy Sheldon was the first in the game to double figures, totaling 12 points on 6-of-6 two-point attempts during the first half.
- Emma Shumate reached 10 points by halftime as well, converting on a fastbreak layup before the first-half buzzer.
- Ohio State shot 12-of-22 (.545) in the opening quarter, increased its production to 12-of-19 (.632) in the second quarter and 15-of-21 (.714) in the third quarter.
- The Buckeyes totaled 14 assists and two turnovers in the first half, compared to Notre Dame’s three assists and 16 turnovers.
- Walker was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor and led the team with nine rebounds.

- Head Coach Kevin McGuff: “I think the biggest thing here is trying to look at the different rotations and how people were playing with each other. We got to play a lot of different lineups, which was the biggest trend.”
- Sophomore guard Emma Shumate: “I felt really comfortable tonight, but we have big games ahead of us. It was a good night for a lot of people to get in and get reps.”
