The Athletic Compliance Office is committed to a comprehensive compliance program that educates its constituents about the importance of adhering to NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institutional rules. Our goal is to create a “compliance conscience” within the University and throughout the community. Maintaining a commitment to compliance ensures institutional control over the Department of Athletics and furthers the mission of The Ohio State University.
To ensure institutional control and to uphold the integrity of the Department, the Athletic Compliance Office is charged with the following tasks:
The Ohio State University is a volunteer member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Big Ten Conference. There are explicit rules and regulations voted on by the membership that govern the actions of our coaches, prospective student-athletes, student-athletes, staff members, athletic representatives (i.e., boosters), and groups that support our 36 sports and 1,000+ student-athletes. The NCAA has charged each institution with the governance and enforcement of these rules and regulations on campus. By ensuring institutional control over the Department, the Athletic Compliance Office directly contributes to the successes of our programs.
With that, your adherence to all applicable NCAA rules and regulations is essential to maintaining Ohio State’s storied tradition of excellence both on and off the field. This site was designed to provide you with key information regarding the NCAA rules and regulations. Most importantly, be mindful of your interactions with prospective and current Ohio State student-athletes and their family and friends. If you have any questions or concerns regarding NCAA rules and regulations, please contact the Athletic Compliance Office. We encourage everyone to ask before they act!
